Besan Ki Roti (Gram Flour Flatbread)

Gram Flour Flatbread
Besan ki Roti OR Gram Flour Flatbread
"Besan ki Roti" is quick and easy Roti/Bread recipe, great for get-together or when you want to make something different to eat with curry. I have customized it by mixing gram flour(besan) with some whole wheat flour (atta) as this version is much more healthier and lighter on tummy. I'm serving it with a vegetarian curry however you can pair it with any meat dish or can even eat it with some flavored yogurt.

Serves: 4
Serving Suggestion: Serve Hot with any curry dish

Storage: The dough for this Roti/Bread can be stored in an air-tight container in fridge for 2-3days.

Tools:
1 Large nonstick pan OR Tava
Food Processor with dough attachment
Rolling Pin
½ Cup Flour – (Any flour) for rolling the Roti/Bread

Ingredients:
1 Cup Gram Flour(Besan)
½ Cup Whole Wheat Flour(Atta) – (you can  use any  flour OR completely skip this step)
4 Tbsp Fresh Coriander – Chopped
1 Large Green Chili – Thinly Chopped
1½  Tsp Carom Seed(Ajwain)
1½  Tsp Salt – As per taste
1 Cup Water – Keep 2-3 tbsp extra

Method:
  1.  In a food processor with dough attachment, add all the above mentioned ingredients and pulse to form a smooth and pliable dough. (Pic1)
  2. Make 15 round balls out of the formed dough and using a rolling pin, roll them into disc shape using dry flour. (Pic2)
  3. Heat nonstick pan OR tava on high flame for 2min, then reduce the flames to medium, place one of the rolled roti/bread on it. Turn the roti to another side after 1min (Side up will have bubbles and brown spots). (Pic 3 & 4)
  4. After both sides are browned for 1min each, * remove the tava/pan and put the roti on high flame, keep tossing it on both sides till they fluff up and evenly golden brown. Remove Roti and place into serving dish. (Pic: Middle)
  5. Follow step 3 and 4 till all roti/bread is done.
  6. Serve Hot with OR without a dash of butter on each.
* If you don't have a flame gas, you can continue cooking the roti/bread on same nonstick pan/tava by turning on either sides and pressing it a little on the side up using a dish towel.
