Besan Ladoo in Microwave - Chickpea Flour Indian Sweet


A simple, sweet and quick recipe on the eve of rakhabandhan, the Hindu festival to celebrate the love, friendship and bond between brother & sister.

Tools:
Ladoo Process
1 Large Microwavable bowl / dish
1 Spatula
1 Serving Dish

Ingredients:
1 Cup Besan (Chickpea Flour) 
½ Cup Sugar (Fine)
6 Tbsp Clarified Butter (Ghee)
4 Tbsp Milk
½ Tsp Cardamom Powder
7-10 Almonds
2 Tbsp Oil – To be used on hands

Method:

  1. In a microwavable bowl, add besan along with 3 tbsp of ghee, mix evenly and microwave on high for 2 minutes (Pic 1 in process).
  2. Stir the besan mixture using the spatula and microwave on high for 2 minutes.
  3. By now, the mixture would have turned slightly brown or deeper in color and a rich aroma of ghee would be coming out of it(Pic 2 in process).
  4. Add 2 tbsp of ghee to this mixture and mix it with hand (it would feel course in texture).
  5. Now microwave for 2 more mins(Pic 3 in process).
  6. Add the remaining ghee, cardamom powder and mix evenly.
  7. Microwave for 1 minute.
  8. Now the besan mixture will look deeper in color and courser in texture (Pic 4 in process).
  9. Cool this mixture till it’s not very hot to touch.
  10. Add sugar, milk and mix evenly.
  11. Now while the mixture is still warm, put oil in your hand and form small round balls / ladoo. (This needs to be made when the mixture is warm or else the laddoos will not form).
  12. Arrange the ladoo’s in the serving tray and decorate each ladoo with almonds.
  13. Serve warm or cold as per taste.
